Businesswoman Found Selling 53 Bags Of Presidential Seed Maize

Businesswoman, Politeness Shumba (39) of Chesa Shop Dosert Business Center Shurugwi South was arrested after she was allegedly found selling
53 x 50kg maize seed and 106x 50 kgs of cotton bulk blended fertilizer from the Presidential Inputs Scheme.
She appeared before Shurugwi Magistrate Percy Mukumba on Wednesday last week facing two charges of selling, purchasing and possessing Government agricultural inputs.
Prosecutor Tafadzwa Guzete said on November 29, 2021, Police received information that the accused was in unlawful possession of maize at her shop. An inspection established that she had 53 x 50kg of maize. The accused failed to account for the seed valued at ZW $84 700 and was arrested.
She was also found in possession of 106x50kg of cotton bulk blended fertilizer, a product donated by Government under the Presidential Agricultural Inputs

Scheme.
The total value of the fertilizers is ZW $257 050.
Shumba was remanded out of custody to this week. *MasvingoMirror*
